Fire Fighter Style :)

For Luke's extra this week in school we studied community workers....fire fighters, police officers, mail men.

We also discussed 9/11 and how much worse that day would've been with out the fire fighters and police officers who helped.

So today Tiff and I headed out with all the kiddos to one of our local fire stations to take a tour.

We ended up at station 10 and the guys there were ah-MA-zing!

They were so patient with our very excited boys and took the time to show them everything there was to see.

I think it's safe to say the kids had a blast, and it doesn't take much to figure out what Luke wants to be now when he grows up :)

Explore Day

One of the things I love most about My Father's World curriculum is that each week there is a day set aside for going outside and exploring. Most of the day is centered around whatever science topic we learned earlier in the week and this weeks was "close to the ground" aka creepy crawlies, ants, and lots of slimmy stuff. So today we headed out with our bug catcher in hand to turn over some rocks and see what we could find. Apparently our house is a bug haven because we found more than I would have liked to!

 (This in case you are wondering is a black widow which I about flipped my lid when I saw. :/)
