A Gift

The World's definition of Down's Syndrome:

A common chromosome disorder due to an extra chromosome number 21 (trisomy 21). Down Syndrome causes mental retardation, a characteristic face, and multiple malformations. Down syndrome is a relatively common birth defect. The chromosome abnormality affects both the physical and intellectual development of the individual.

My definition of Down's Syndrome:

A child who you can't help but fall in love with at first sight

A baby whose pure beauty and innocence captivates your heart

A little girl that you can't help describe as absolutely stunning even if the world says she's "different"

A child who knits a family together so perfectly that you know it was meant to be

A baby who brings unspeakable joy to everyone they meet

A little piece of Heaven here on Earth

A little girl who melts your heart with one smile

A beautiful and perfect gift from God

Can Someone Please Tell Me

When my sweet little girl turned in to this monster of a toddler???

We have gone from being obedient to pitching a fit about everything

From hanging on every word that Momma says to acting like I am not even in the room

From loving, admiring faces to this one in response to everything I say and do

Although she still does have her moments when she will grace me
with that heart warming smile
And those are the times that I remember that this too shall pass
And all too soon she will be grown and gone

Scratching The Itch Part 2

If you are just now joining in on the fun I posted about a month ago about how I had been bitten by the decorating bug. Since then I have been working on a couple of different things including our master bedroom which you can see here. Since then I have scored an amazing china cabinet at Goodwill for $35, which my husband sanded and painted for me, and have managed to cross a couple of things off of my pintrest list, such as the "I love you because" picture here.

The forks idea I snagged off of pintrest and are suppose to have recipe cards on them but I chose to clip out my favorite parts of cards that Scott had given me in the past. And the menu board idea also came from pintrest and I just used an old picture frame and chalkboard paint.

Picky Eater Friday!

One of my biggest struggles with my kids is getting them to eat healthy. I have Luke who refuses to eat any kind of vegetable and Matalie who wants nothing but sweets. While talking to my sister-wife Amber over lunch the other day I had told her that I had finally resulted to pureeing veggies that were the same color as the dinner I cooked and mixing it in somehow and she had said what a good idea it was so I decided to share a couple of recipes with you. Because I know I can't be the only mom with a picky eater :)

So on to this weeks recipe:   Chicken Spaghetti

This dinner is super easy and my kids gobble it up in two seconds flat!

What you need:

3 boneless skinless chicken breast
1/2 can of evaporated milk
8oz sour cream
1 jar of ragu cheese sauce
1 onion
1 bag of sharp cheddar cheese
1 bell pepper
 1 box of spaghetti

What you do:

Cut your chicken breast and onions and add to skillet. Slice your bell pepper and then put it in a food processor or chopper and then add to chicken and onion.

Saute that over medium heat until the chicken is no longer pink. While that is cooking prepare your noodles as directed on the package, drain and set aside. In a separate pot combine sour cream, shredded cheese, ragu, and evaporated milk. Cook until heated through. By now the chicken should be done. Reduce the heat to low, add cheese sauce, and mix well. Once that is heated through add the noodles and voila! You have yourself a meal that's healthy(well healthy-er!) and your kids are sure to love! :)

Grass Fairy

On his way out the door to cut the grass the other night my husband asked if I wanted to join him.

The look on his face was priceless when I said- sure why not.

I was convinced he was two beats away from having a heart attack.

As you can see he was enjoying himself so much watching me that he felt the need to bust the camera out.

And as I was hoping that seeing me all dirty and sweaty would be enough for him to never ask me to do outside manual labor again, the look on his face said other wise.

I'm pretty sure that I have landed me a new household chore being the grass cutter.

Nice.

At least we can come up with a better name.....Grass Fairy???

How about Lawn Goddess??? yep, I think that will do :)

Stay Cool

What do you do when your ac goes out....

And it's 80 degrees....in your house

Your children are whinny and ill....

And if you hear a two year old say "it's hooottttt" one more time you think you might loose it???

You put them in a cold bath and let them soak for hours

While you soak up the peace and quiet
